Maggie's Food

It's been 1 full week since I welcome Maggie into this small room of mine. As a new rabbit owner, I'm scared of just about everything that may contribute to my little friend's death. You know how fragile a rabbit is. A sudden change in every day food could create stress to a rabbit.

Talking about food. I got Mr. Rabbit from JJ market for 50 Baht. Who knows what comes with those pellets but this brand is unusually cheap. Maggie has been eating it for one full week. She seems to like it, but hey, no pet food should come with that too low of a price. I did some research and went to the pet store...XtraViral Junior Rabbit was all I could find. Price is four times higher that Mr. Rabbit!! Well, but I went ahead and got it for her anyway.

I started mixing XtraViral with her old one, but it seems to be too hard for her to chew. Anyone knows if this is okay? Is it a good brand?

I've heard Cuni is great too..

It'd be great if you could share with me :) Thanks!

The Lucky One

Cats.
Dogs.
Strays on the street.

That's what my blog has always been about. These honest, adorable creatures. You may think what's so good about them... Well, in this stressful life of mine. Maybe not so stressful but I usually get stressed out so easily. It is making my psoriasis worse each day. Five new red spots flare up within 2 months not to mention redness on hairlines of my forhead..Embarrassing...

I have found out that they make me happy. Extremely, unusually relaxed and happy. I have an adopt only policy. It means that I will only adopt a stray from the shelter or pick one off from the street.

Maggie

I call her Maggie the Lucky one. While I was walking in the JJ (Chatujak) Market, I saw her hopping on the walk way. She was probably hopped out of her cage. I took her back to the shop nearby, but the sight of the cage was horrible...The cage including shop area were very dirty that I couldn't imagine leaving her there.

So I bought her...

Maggie was the last one there. Who knows what could have happened to her if I left her there.

I got Maggie, a cage big enough for when she grows up,  and the food.

Here is the very first photo of her.

I think she might be a Dutch...
Any idea??

How to stop thinking too much?

It's 10pm. Probably too early for most of you out there, but I'm pretty much very exhausted.
Mostly from thoughts that keep running.

I think too much almost all the time, especially when it's about time to sleep.
"What had just happened today and what could I possibly do to avoid the situation?"
"What should I be doing tomorrow?"
"What if...."
Then conversation replays... Then my imagination starts running...
They never seem to stop. At the end, it's midnight. Eyes closed but I'm still wild awake.
Having to go through that again fears me.
Yet I refuse to take sleeping pill and suffer the next day.

I hate what I'm going through right now.

The Bookshop Bar

The Bookshop Bar... Sounds like an ordinary cafe with books on shelves to read, but I assure you...This is not ordinary.

Located under hi-so condominium called Ashton Morph in Soi Thonglor 38, the bar is originally meant for people living here. Now, I wish I could live here.

Someone once told me to aim high.. Here's my dream condominium.  9 million THB for a 1 Bedroom :)

The Bar designed by Ashley Sutton. Yes, heard me right. Same designer as the famous Maggie Choo's, Iron Fairies, and Fat Gutz. A total of 14 drinks designed by the famous mixologist Joseph Boroski, who's also a Global Director of Cocktail Culture at W Brand (Starwood).

Less than 30 seats available... This is the only disappointment I have. Other than that, perfect!

The Edgar Allan Pole - Strongest drink.. they said

The Romance Novel

This is the Crab Meat Ball - Thai Style. Pretty good.

Food is not a big deal here, but only that I haven't tried their Lamb Rague, the famous dish.

The Local by Oamthong Thai Restaurant

Last day of my long weekend then I'm back to work for 6 days straight.
I WILL SURVIVE!

Being out of place for a week, there is a lot of uncertainty occupying my thoughts...
I'M UNSURE.

Anyhow, I tried a new Thai Restaurant today.. Authentic one, of course.

THE LOCAL BY OAMTHONG is located 400 m in Sukhumvit 23.
The restaurant aims to preserve Thai's culinary heritage by using local Thai's ancient recipes, which some of the Thais do not even know. I, myself, didn't know quite a few of the menus on the list.

Front view: Restaurant seems a little quiet during lunch.

Walk inside and you'll see an amazing decor. Very Thai indeed. There's even a little silk shop called Naj collections.

Take a look at the menu. Most of the recommendations are indeed very rare. I'm sure you won't find it anywhere else. Price is a bit high comparing to portion served. I would say I was a bit disappointed. Portion is too small...I wonder how foreigners take it.

Kaffir Lime Iced Tea (110 THB) - Like I said, too overpriced but I can't argue when it comes to taste. Special sweet aroma of Kaffir Lime. Unforgettable.

I can't even recall the name of this dish! Some rare vegetable from the South stir-fried with egg. There's a LOT of HUGE garlic in there...I hate the garlic part...This is great for vegetarian and anyone who loves garlic.. (sorry, not me)

Stir-Fried Stinky Bean (Sator) with Shrimp (250 THB).  No foreigner would even think of this dish. This is one of the many famous Thai menus for we Thais.  Overpriced for just 3 shrimps...Tastes OK.

Stewed Pork with Special Sauce (250 THB) - I like this dish the most, basically because it tastes like what my mom used to cook me. I wouldn't consider this an ancient Thai recipe. This is more Chinese to me. My favorite!

All in all, this is a very good restaurant. I would recommend to anyone trying Thai food for the first time. The taste might not suit someone like me... I mean I'm a Thai living in Thailand for 25 years, of course I know a good place to go for a much lower price.

I'll be happy to recommend you. Just ask!

Bottoms Up Thonglor | Wine Beer and Bistro Bar

There is always a need to let my anxiety out...
For some reason I feel like I wanted to disappear these days...
Maybe it's the toxic Bangkok society that makes me sick.
Old "Farang" guys with young Thai girls, stuck-up Thai Hi-Sos, bitches and people with no manners, etc etc. I could go on and on.
I started to realize the day I turned 25, that this is not the life I dream for myself.
Yet, I tangled myself up even more when I accepted my promotion at work.
No arguing though. I need money to get through and this is the only way it can work...
I probably talked too much :)

Highlight of my week was a visit at Bottoms Up Thonglor.
Mom's friend is an owner and she's been wanting me to visit ever since last year. Stupid me keep postponing.

Turns out everything is just PERFECT! This is the restaurant that I will recommend people over and over again. The restaurant is located in front of Soi Tararom 2, Thonglor (Sukhumvit 55). A bit far from Sukhumvit Road, but a 10-15 minutes walk wouldn't hurt, right?

A cool restaurant, very much give off European feel.

Full Bar and the BIGGEST one in Bangkok, they say :)

Now, have a look at their menu in a form of a newsletter. I find this very similar to Roast.

Great interior...Blame it on my Samsung Galaxy S3 for failing to capture such a beautiful design.
I want Sony Xperia now!!

Building my appetite with a glass of Old-Fashioned. I was a bit disappointed their mixologist doesn't know how to make me a Negroni, my all time favorite drink, but it's okay :)

Fresh wine and wine dispenser can be found here, one and only restaurant in Bangkok! Cool!

Onion Ring while waiting for the owner to arrive. I love the dip, this is not just an ordinary ketchup.. There's a mix between ketchup and spicy sauce with a hint of garlic. A good combination.

Appetizer: Seafood Salad. Look at how large they are. Seafood Yum!! Not too spicy too. This suit well with foreigner's taste.

Appetizer: Baked Garlic Mussle. Another good one, but we ate too slow and it looked stale when the cheese turned cold. Yummy anyhow :)

Main: Grilled Salmon with baked Spinach. Highlight of the meal! I wish it comes with good mashed potato on the side.

Main: Pasta Alfredo with Ebiko. It's a little too creamy for me but I have no objection when it comes to Ebiko (Japanese for shrimp egg).

Main: Stewed Lamb Shank. My order and also most popular dish of the restaurant. It turned out better than I thought. Lamb was well cooked and did not have any weird smell at all. Mashed potato is great and even better when I paired it with grilled salmon :)  Perfect mashed potato goes to Eat Me (Sorry about that).

Now another glass of Sparkling Wine (Prosecco). Just as good. I was getting a little tipsy after a few empty glasses.

Dessert: Fried Banana with Vanilla Ice Cream. Now I DID NOT ordered this. Our little owner did. This is so fatty but also so good. Ultimate sin for someone who's on diet like me.  I actually ordered a tiramisu, portion was too large I was not able to finish all of it, not even half!

Enough reading about this and head straight to Bottoms Up Thonglor
